Heather Lewis’ work has been shown in solo and group shows in galleries in the United States and abroad including the Pratt Manhattan Gallery, New York (in collaboration with Amy Guggenheim); the Ewing Gallery at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; the Holden Gallery at Warren Wilson College, North Carolina; the Queen’s Road Gallery, Aberdeen, Scotland; and the Threesome Gallery, Oslo, Norway. Her work is in private, public and corporate collections including those of Perth City Council in Perth, Scotland; Art in Hospitals in Edinburgh, Scotland; and Chevron UK Limited, in London.
Upcoming shows include Smoke+Mirrors / Shadows+Fog, Hunter College/Times Square Gallery, New York, an installation in the Malcolm E. Blowers Gallery, UNC Asheville, NC, and a 2011 exhibition at The McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC.
Heather is a British visual artist, born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, currently living and working in the USA. She obtained her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design at the University of Dundee, Scotland.
STATEMENT
Considering painting and drawing as expanded concepts, and interchangeable with installation, I use non-commercial rationales to direct existing technology, products and situations. This lets me explore the role of mechanical process within creative practice and engage aspects of the ordinary world within a fine art environment.
